A Note from the President

NEDSI convened in New York City in late March for its 2008 annual meeting. One word can summarize the conference – WOW! Our Program Chair, Snehamay Banerjee, arranged for an excellent variety of sessions and workshops, a dinner cruise around the New York harbor as well as a sightseeing trip through Manhattan. The only element missing was long-time NEDSI member Paul Mangiameli dressed in his Statue of Liberty costume.

One goal of NEDSI in the coming year is to expand our member base within the Boston and New York regions. NEDSI offers a variety of benefits to its conference attendees: networking opportunities, feedback on scholarly work, information on innovative academic programs and initiatives, textbook exhibits and much more. If you know of someone who may be interested in the benefits of NEDSI, please contact me at rhyde@udel.edu. I hope to see you at the 2009 conference at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut; details follow in this newsletter.
